Use Google Discover for Increased Web Traffic.
Did you realize that Google Discover can dramatically increase traffic to your website?
Google Discover offers a unique way for users to uncover new content. Getting your site to appear in the Discover section can skyrocket your organic traffic.
However, many website owners are not sure how to get started.
I am going to show you how to get started on âGoogle Discoverâ so you too can benefit from increased organic traffic.
But donât take my word for it, do this and see for yourself.
What is Google Discover?
Google developed this feed in 2018 to show readers relevant content even when they werenât searching. Now, more than 800 million individuals use the feed each month to remain up to date about their interests, a sharp increase over the previous year.
Google is introducing a significant update to this experience that includes a new name, a modernized style, and a whole new set of capabilities.
Since the feedâs inception, Google has aimed to make it easier for you to find new and intriguing content on topics that are important to you.
They are now giving the feed a name that accurately describes this.
Discover is a new name for a brand-new interface that makes it simpler than ever to explore what you are interested in.
Is Discover the Same as Search?
No, whereas search has been in response to what the user inputs into the âsearch barâ to find information, discover intuitively uncovers the interests that are the readers preference and displays that content.

Optimizing For Discover.
In essence, the Discover feed is a response to earlier Google searches. Therefore, from the perspective of a publisher, optimizing for Discover presents a chance to put your content in front of audiences who are interested without having to search.
How to Optimize for Google Discover.
1. Ensure your website is responsive to mobile devices.
Your website must be mobile-friendly because Discover was created with mobile consumers in mind. You should at the very least have a responsive website that loads rapidly. Getting your pages AMP ready is the greatest method to guarantee that your content is suitable, as more than 60% of the items that show on the Discover stream are AMP.

2. Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
Content that displays the E-A-T principleâexpertise, authority, and trustworthinessâis favored by Google. In the case of Discover, this entails clearly stating the dates on which the content was created, the authors bylines and biographies, the title of the publication, the publisher, and the contact details.
All of these elements foster visitor trust and openness. You may check your âauthorityâ with the Moz bar. More details are available here. âHow to improve Domain Authorityâ
3. Metadata is essential.
Usersâ search queries and interactions with the results are what generate the information in the Discover feed. This indicates that metadata (what you input) and traditional SEO best practices are still important.
Content on the page should be summarized through title tags and meta descriptions. Additionally, stay away from clickbait, which is particularly discouraged in the Discover guidelines.

4. Use your own informative pictures and videos.
Google gives a lot of traction to pictures in âDiscoverâ so it is important to have high-quality images in the content you want to appear in the post. Preferably use your own photos and videos and ramp up the sizes to larger images.
The more authenticity you bring to the table the more chance you will have to speak. It is easier to understand a picture than 2,000 words of text, and Google will remember if you try to make it easy for their customers.
And embedding YouTube videos will also add to your chances of getting them to appear in google discover.
Having said that, you can go a step further and develop a WordPress video XML sitemap. Search engines like Google can more readily identify and index content with embedded videos with the help of a video sitemap.
Your movies will consequently show up in highlighted snippets and search results, and eventually be added to Google Discover.
5. Trending and evergreen content.
The Discover feed prefers timely content for the most part and breaking stories will get picked up. But unless you are a well-known publication with millions of readers, it is unlikely that youâll be featured for the hottest stories. News stories also tend to have a limited shelf-life and will disappear from the Discover feed quickly.
Niche, evergreen content that delivers real value to the audience is likely to be the best way for smaller publishers to consistently make it in. So read between the lines and concentrate on your organic traffic with evergreen content.
6. In WordPress use Open Graph Title.
Using the Open Graph title is another method for getting your website to show up in Google Discover.
You can manage how your website is shown when it is shared on various social media networks by using Open Graph information. It improves the aesthetics of your material on social media feeds, enables readers to understand its subject matter, and raises brand awareness.
Your blog articles and web pages can easily have an Open Graph title added if you are using All in One SEO (AIOSEO).
You can scroll down to the AIOSEO Settings meta box in the WordPress article editor. The plugin offers the opportunity to enter a title for Facebook and Twitter under the âSocialâ page.
7. Configure WordPress to Display Knowledge Graph Information
WordPress users can add Knowledge Graph data to improve their chances of appearing in search results and showing a follow icon.
By using the All in One SEO (AIOSEO) plugin, entering the Knowledge Graph information is simple. For instance, you can enter your company name, contact information, upload a logo, and more.
Being included in the Knowledge Graph indicates that your internet presence is substantial enough for Google to properly contextualize your material and link it to pertinent user interests. For you to be able to confirm that you are in charge of the âentityâ if you donât already have a Knowledge Panel, you must create a Google My Business account.
People can only follow your brand in Discover if itâs in the Knowledge Graph. To check, Google your publication or brand and if thereâs a Knowledge Panel in the search results, itâs in the Knowledge Graph. Being in the Knowledge Graph means your online presence is strong enough for Google to put your content in the right context, associating it with relevant user interests. If you donât have a Knowledge Panel, you need to set up a Google My Business account to let you verify that you control the entity.
